I have no memory of Ty to share, and I apologize if my comments are not appropriate for this venue, however, I want to say that I'm sad to have not met this Brother as he was obviously a true hero and a credit to our Brotherhood!

Terry was my uncles brother. He was my biggest mentor going into the USMC. Prepared me in ways that helped me understand what to expect as an 18 year old as well as excel. It was awesome to end up meeting a couple guys that knew Terry when I was on a MEUSOC deployment we had an operation that we supported another unit that Terry had moved on to. I knew they were Combat Controllers because of the CC Portion on their shoulders with in that unit a knowing how small the comunity is and even more so in that type of unit. I threw it out there that I knew Terry and if they knew him and they had. We were presaged for a mission at that point and on stand by that unit was staged on the other side of the ramp to the flight deck so it was awesome they shot the shit with me about Terry for a while. Being a Marine it was the only time I noticed I/we were working that Closely with Combat Controllers. Much respect. I know the loss of Terry affected many especially his family. I know I lost a great mentor and some one I looked up to. Still do. For those he served with there are many of you that meant a lot to him. So many more things I wanted to learn from him or stories and experienced to have heard about. He left us way too soon. Semper Fi... Collapse

We both went on separate assignments for the next few years but worked with each other on some real world engagements.
Needless to say MAC asked to me to be his sidekick at CCS.
This was not easy - God was on my side - they revived my records & I tried out for CCS.
Thirty days later - MAC & I became the CCT assholes instructors that no wanted to ever meet or be trained by,

BUT: Every student who graduated takes great pride in saying they graduated under the instruction of MAC & Caffall. Please note during this period this was the lowest graduation rate in 20 years but the highest of number of future decorate hero’s.

Please know the this was the beginning of a long history of of events for MAC & I.

I proud to say I served during the the time of MAC.

God bless MAC, Jill (special person ❤️) & his family & friends.

Chris
PS See you soon!... Collapse

Mac was a bigger than life character when I first got to the Combat Control School at Pope. He pushed us hard and worked on us just as hard, but always with that mischievous glint in his eyes. He directed us with humor and laughter. Sometimes he was laughing with us and sometimes at us. The best part about Mac was he treated us like a true mentor, as did all the instructors we had. Long after I had left the service, I hadn't stayed in touch anyone from the teams and I happened to stumble across this website called Sgt. Mac's Bar quite by accident. I signed his guestbook and didn't think much more about but later on that year, I got an email from Mac and then a phone call saying that he and Jill were going to be driving through Tucson on their way to see Buddy and could they spend the night. Next thing I knew, they had pulled into our driveway, I was pouring beer from my home brew taps on my bar and stories were flowing bringing back memories. Just as Mac had done to me while going through CCS, he kicked me in the ass once again and got me to join the Combat Control Association so I could get back in touch with the brotherhood. I'm forever grateful for Mac for pushing me beyond my limits to earn my beret, and for pushing me again to get me back with the best family I've ever known. Mac has left a lasting impression on many young men, most of whom are now old and gray. He has certainly left an impression with me. [IMG_E4DRLYF.jpeg]... Collapse

Mac died at home at the end of a peninsula on a river in Missouri with Jill and the dog. The estate was laid out per 3-3. It may have been a heart attack after his back surgery. Both Mac and Jill donated their remains to The Science Center. Mac's remains were removed for their next journey this morning. Mac does not want a service, but I know he would be happy if you left a note here or at his creation www.sgtmacsbar.com

Miss my father, Special Operations CCT SMSgt Clyde Howard, every second of every day. Reading about his 4 tours, longer than any CCT Air Commando in S.E. Carney, Jr “Coach”, the father of Special Tactics, etc.

His contribution to CCT was his life’s work and even after retirement till his last days kept his passion, love and loyalty to his CCT brothers heart felt.

As he was inducted into the Air Commando Hall of Fame, lived a full life, cherished his family, loved his CCT brothers, adored his pets, he was to me the best father a son could ever ask for and look up too. Can’t wait to see you again one day dad. Cheers!🍻

Love you,
Your proud son Tom-Tom [IMG_Jm2dhdq.jpg]... Collapse
