John Lewis Butler, 68, passed away at his home in Navarre, Florida September 13, 2023. He was born November 11, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, to James and Georgia Butler.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, JoAnn Mortenson and Rachel Gross. He is survived by his wife, Becky, of the home. His seven children. Jessica/Tony Ryan of Hudson, Florida; Johnny Jr/Courtney Butler Brooksville, Florida; Amber Butler of Port St John, Florida. Adam/Katelyn Butler of Ackworth, Georgia; Andrew Butler of Melbourne, Florida; Autumn/Brandon Simmons Marathon, Florida; and Alec Butler of Melbourne, Florida. Eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His siblings are Carol Lutheran of Bolivar, Missouri. Lloyd/Jan Butler of Grandview, Mo. Tony/Barb Butler of Saint Louis, Missouri.

Everett/Linda Butler, Kansas City, Missouri; Tommy/Lyn of Kansas City, Kansas. Mary/Cris Medina Kansas City, Missouri James/Penny Butler Newburgh, Indiana.

John graduated from Center High School, entered the United States Air Force in 1974, and retired in 1994. He was an Air traffic controller and then cross-trained as a Special Tactics Combat Controller. After retiring, he worked for NASA and then went back to work for the Air Force as a CCT/STTS Instructor and then retired in March 2020. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and so many friends. John was loved by everyone he met and was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan.
