Alfred L. Gordy peacefully deceased at the age of 67 on June 6 at 3:45pm CDT at his home at Hitchcock, TX.  The cause of death was cancer of the brain. He is survived by his loving wife Nan, five children and 21 grandchildren.

Al served with the USMC prior to 1965, enlisting in the Air Force during 1966 as a Lt., and subsequently retired as a LtCol. on September 1, 1980.   His Combat Control assignments include Dyess and McChord.  He had great pleasure serving as Combat Controller and took an active roll as a member of the Combat Control Association via providing historical information.

The 62nd Wing Commander, Colonel Brown assigned me to the McChord combatcontrol team as a civilian photographer in 1975. I met the then major Gordy at that time. He welcomed me to the team. He was an outstanding officer. I respected him very much. Rest in peace sir.
