Subject: Aubrey Holmes
This is Aubrey´s brother, Don, and I am using email traffic on Aubrey´s laptop to inform friends I can identify that Aubrey left us yesterday afternoon. I think you know he has been suffering multiple medical problems in recent years and on Saturday the cumulative illnesses won the battle.
He was in the Landstuhl hospital palliative care unit at the end and we held his hands as he died peacefully and without pain.

Don, how bizarre I just saw this, 3 years too late. I remember the two of you living together in Newport News, while you worked at the shipyard. Aubrey was in my life, off and on until 1982, while he was living in Germany. I loved and adored him for 20 years, but our life paths just couldn't cross. I believe he loved me, too. We're all old now, but he is forever my sweetheart .
He was the epitome of a tough guy, with a sweet heart.
