We are sorry to inform you about the passing of one of our teammates.

** Leslie Hall and Marty Jones – Bill Jones was CCT circa 1960 – 1970 and a mentor of mine who passed away on Christmas Eve. Bill was the father of CCT Marty Jones. Bill went on to run several skydiving centers and also became a commercial pilot.

A few other facts about Bill include starting his military service in the Navy and serving as a gunner on an AD during the Korean War. He was nearly shot down on one mission and his pilot was severely wounded yet managed to get the aircraft back to the carrier.

Later, he joined the Army, went airborne, and joined the Special Forces. Later, he enlisted in the Air Force but took a few years to find his way to Combat Control. I can’t explain his reasons for changing services but I’m glad I got to meet him and learn from him.

A Celebration of Life for Bill is scheduled on May 5, 2025, in Taft, California (near Bakersfield) Bill and I exited the tailgate of a C-123 over NKP, Thailand in 1966.

** Charlie McCarthy – I worked with Bill at Norton. I learned a lot about Free fall from him. Great guy.

** Bill Blowers – I worked with Bill at the Air Force Academy coaching cadets in the art of parachuting.

Respectfully,
Board of Directors
Combat Control Association
