CMSgt Retired Carl Choate was born on May 18, 1936 in Texas and passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at his residence.<br />
Bud (as he was known) was a resident of Pecan Island, Louisiana at the time of his passing.  Stationed all over the world, he was a decorated war hero in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam.  Retiring to Pecan Island.<br />
He loved hunting and fishing.  Son of Herman J. Choate and Lucille Nunez.  He is survived by his wife, Hertha Choate; one son, Michael Choate.<br />
Memorial services were held February 17 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pecan Island honoring the life of Carl Joseph Choate 80 years old.

Stationed all over the world, Carl was a war hero in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. After retiring in Pecan Island, Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Hertha Choate; one son, Michael Choate; two nieces, Paula McManus and Caroline Denny; and two nephews, Jerry Plaia and Paul LeMaire.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Choate and the former Lucille Nunez; two sisters, Patricia Cossich and Carmel Plaia; and one nephew, Chris Plaia.

I got to know "CC" when he was up at McChord for an op. A "Bigger Than Life " man. He was great!! I was talking to him at the NCOA over a couple of beers and he was wearing a HALO Parachutist T-shirt. I told him I wanted to go to HALO school if I get the chance. He took the shirt off right there, and said "LT give me your shirt!" (A plain OD T-shirt) I did and he said " That ought to motivate you a little!!" (smile) I still have it-gave it to my son not...
