Eugene Clay Harris, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born October 22, 1947, he was a son of the late Claiborne Ernest Harris and Evelyn Horne Harris. Gene honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force as Sergeant during Vietnam. He retired from the City of Richmond, having worked in the Police Communications Department and the Department of Information Technology. Gene was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Teresa Smith and her husband, Greg, and Marjorie Sunshine Quinn-Moore; grandchildren, Noah James Fox, Jorja Noelle Fox and Alexander Gavin Moore. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Chester Baptist Church. The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel.
