A Gentleman and A Gentle Man Fred, 62,is survived by his family; Wife, Carol, Daughters, Kimberly Henley(George) and Katie Matthews, Grandchildren, Breann, Natasha, Sophia, and Max and Brother Lewis Matthews(Lois) and niece, Jennifer.
Fred graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1971. He graduated in CCS Class 73-1 and served as a combat control leader for 8 years. After leaving the service, he worked as a dispatcher/reserve officer for the Buckley police department and the National Park Service at Mt. Rainier Park.
The next 20 years were spent in medical sales and management counsuling services. Finally, he discovered the joys of teaching and received his masters degree in education from PLU. He taught at Challenger Alternative School and Spanaway Jr. High in the Bethel School District.
His volunteer work with the American Legion was a very important part of his retirement years. A gentle man of integrity and compassion, he will be missed by all who traveled along his path. "Sueña con los Angelitos " ( Sleep with the Angels ).
