Gerald T. Glass, 68, of Southport, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at a local hospital.
He was born in Panama City and had lived in Southport for the past 10 years. Jerry retired as a senior master sergeant after 21 years in the U.S. Air Force. During his Air Force career, he was certified as a paratrooper and was an air traffic controller at his retirement. After the Air Force, Jerry worked as a corrections officer and taught air traffic control at Oklahoma State University for five years before returning to Bay County. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Joann Butler Glass; a brother, James Glass; his father, Buddy Glass; and a niece, Fonda Ashton.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Charri Lynn and Charles Rosalis; his sister, Keri Rosalis and her husband, Wayne, of Southport; his aunt, Audrey Golden of East Point, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nixon Miller officiating. Interment with military honors offered by the U.S. Air Force will follow at Southport Cemetery.
