Entered Into Eternal Rest
2010-05-07

James Charles Dial, "Diamond Jim" to his friends, embarked on the ultimate adventure one year ago, May 7, 2010, at the age of 61, in Nashville.

Born in Tennessee March 12, 1949, he was Senior Class President at Twin Rivers High School in 1967, then served with the U.S. Air Force as a Blue Beret in Viet Nam. After the war, he relocated in Virginia Beach and worked at the A.R.E. (Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.) where he was loved by many.Known for his unique sense of humor, kindness, love of poetry and music, Jim was brilliant and funny – a good friend to all.

He is survived by an extensive family in Nashville, his beloved daughter, Rose Christian Haywood, her mother Joy Haywood, and a host of friends.

Buried in Tennessee, his gravestone was chosen by his daughter who said, "He made me laugh more than anyone I've ever known." Jim, it seems, got the last laugh. It reads: "The Funniest Man Alive."
We miss you , Jim
