MSgt (r) John C "JJ" Jones passed away this morning after more than two years courageously battling ALS. JJ began his service to CCT in 1979 while assigned to the Charleston team. Then, he was a "Leg" 304 Ground Radio Maintenance man. When Coach Carney landed in the desert on April 24, much of the equipment they carried or rode on was built or configured by JJ. One such piece of equipment was a TACAN TRN-27 mounted for the first time on a 3 wheeler motor cycle.
Over the years, his inventions were numerous and put JJ in a class with JC Bradshaw, Tony Tino, Edo Miller, and Hank Shaffer. JJ went on later to complete CCT School with Scuba and Halo certifications.
While leading the Dyess, Texas, Team, JJ suffered an accident while demonstrating "Australian" Repel techniques and was subsequently medically discharged from his injuries.
At the time of passing, JJ was Vice President at WinTec Arrowmaker, where he patented a UAS Launcher system still in use today. We owe him a great deal.
