John I. 69 of Medford Lakes died Thursday at home. Mr. Gavlick was born in Swoyerville PA and moved to Medford Lakes in 1974. He graduated from the University of Richmond (VA) in 1955 and was an All American in football.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving as a captain and an air traffic controller. He was a master parachutist. Mr. Gavlick retired in May 1998 from the New Lisbon Development Center New Lisbon.
Mr. Gavlick is survived by his wife of 50 years Lillian (nee Deitz) Gavlick of Medford Lakes; his mother Josephine Gavlick; five sons John A.(Joanne) Michael (Diane) Christopher David (Cindy) Andrew (Denise) one sister Dorothy Yurkowski (Stanley) ten grandchildren John Z. Jacqueline Steven Kim Tarah Justine Daniel Mary Alexandra and Katherine. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday evening from 7 to 9 pm at the MATHIS FUNERAL HOME 58 North Main St. (Route 541) Medford. (609) 654-2439. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 am at the funeral home.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 am at St. Mary of the Lakes RC Church 40 Jackson Road Medford. Interment will take place on Tuesday August 7 2001 in Dennison Cemetery Wilkes Barre PA.
