Got this from KJ Jones in the Philippines regarding the passing of Joe Lapierre. “About Joe. He had a knee operation done in Thailand a few years back. It was good, but last August while visiting Doug Carwile (retired PJ) at his resort in Siargao Island, he got an infection in that knee. When he got back to Angeles City he checked into Medical City on Clark. (My personal feelings on this hospital aside). His knee operation was good, but he developed pneumonia while there and then his kidneys failed to about 15 percent. He almost died that three months ago. But he came back from the abyss and was recovering well. A couple of weeks or more ago, he went in to clean out the knee and check if the infection was gone. That surgery went well, and he was on blood thinners. However, last Monday, he was complaining of chest pain. The hospital scheduled him for an angiogram on Wednesday assuming (rightly) a blood clot. They went in to remove the blood clot, but during the operation, one of the artery stints he had from ten years ago "shrank?" and blocked the artery. His BP fell off quickly and he went into respiratory arrest. They tried to revive him for an hour but called it. Joe died.”
