Buried in the US National Cemetery at Beaufort, SC.
He had a long career in Combat Control which started at Sewart during 1956 with subsequent assignments to: Pope, Munich, Wiesbaden, Dyess, Forbes, Ton Son Nhut, Dover, and Charleston AF Bases.
After his military retirement, he was employed as a pilot and wildlife officer for the SC Dept. of Natural Resources.
Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of Friday, January 18, 2002, Martin Butler North, residence Folly Beach, S.C.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 11:30 a.m. U.S. National Cemetery, Beaufort, S.C.
Son of William Wesley North, Sr. and Mamie Butler North. Mr. North retired as a TSgt. from the U.S. Air Force and was most recently employed as a Wildlife Officer with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
He is survived by his step-mother, Hazel H. North of Mount Pleasant, S.C., two daughters, Constance R. North of Miami, Fla., Sherry N. Jacobs of Kent City, Mich., one son, Martin B. North, Jr. of Mansfield, Tex., one step-son, David Williams of Charleston, S.C., four sisters, Mary N. Tyler of Panama City, Fla., Jean N. Corbett of Johns Island, S.C., Amy N. Heins and Linda P. North both of Mount Pleasant, S.C., three brothers, Robert A. North and James A. North both of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Grady C. North of Columbia, S.C., five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association of S.C., Coastal Branch, 1941 Savage Road, Suite 200-A, Charleston, S.C. 29407.
