Richard Karmann Jr. died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 1, 1947, in Chapman, the son of Richard and Hoppi Louise Young Karmann. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1965. He received a master’s degree in computer science.

Richard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1987 as a Combat Controller, and he was stationed in Taiwan during the Vietnam War. He worked for Informix Software in Lenexa for 17 years, and he and his wife owned and operated The Studio Too and Karmann’s Clock Repair in McLouth since 1991.

He married Mary Sue Sparks on Jan. 4, 1967, in Topeka. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Richard III, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Charles, McLouth; two daughters, Karen Sue Karmann-McIntosh, Sumter, S.C., and Barbara Jean Karmann, McLouth; three brothers, Rex, Junction City, Russell, Maynard, Ark., and Robert, Larned; three sisters, Ruby Karmann, Piedmont, S.D., Ruth Karmann, Nebraska, and Rosalie Karmann, Wichita; a stepmother, Ruby Karmann, Junction City; and three grandchildren.
