As most of you know that knew MAC also knew we were very close for over 50 years. From day 1 , I met MAC at ATC - we were both preparing to become CCT. We both went on separate assignments for the next few years but worked with each other on some real world engagements.
Needless to say MAC asked to me to be his sidekick at CCS.
This was not easy - God was on my side - they revived my records & I tried out for CCS.
Thirty days later - MAC & I became the CCT assholes instructors that no wanted to ever meet or be trained by,

BUT: Every student who graduated takes great pride in saying they graduated under the instruction of MAC & Caffall. Please note during this period this was the lowest graduation rate in 20 years but the highest of number of future decorate hero’s.

Please know the this was the beginning of a long history of of events for MAC & I.

I proud to say I served during the the time of MAC.

God bless MAC, Jill (special person ❤️) & his family & friends.

Chris

I first met Mac at Little Rock AFB in 1975, my first assignment. He was a great team member and taught me a lot. All the TDY’s and local missions were always interesting with Mac. He was a long time friend and will missed and remembered.

Mac was a bigger than life character when I first got to the Combat Control School at Pope. He pushed us hard and worked on us just as hard, but always with that mischievous glint in his eyes. He directed us with humor and laughter. Sometimes he was laughing with us and sometimes at us. The best part about Mac was he treated us like a true mentor, as did all the instructors we had. Long after I had left the service, I hadn't stayed in touch anyone from the teams and I happened to stumble across this website called Sgt. Mac's Bar quite by accident. I signed his guestbook and didn't think much more about but later on that year, I got an email from Mac and then a phone call saying that he and Jill were going to be driving through Tucson on their way to see Buddy and could they spend the night. Next thing I knew, they had pulled into our driveway, I was pouring beer from my home brew taps on my bar and stories were flowing bringing back memories. Just as Mac had done to me while going through CCS, he kicked me in the ass once again and got me to join the Combat Control Association so I could get back in touch with the brotherhood. I'm forever grateful for Mac for pushing me beyond my limits to earn my beret, and for pushing me again to get me back with the best family I've ever known. Mac has left a lasting impression on many young men, most of whom are now old and gray. He has certainly left an impression with me. [IMG_E4DRLYF.jpeg]... Collapse

Mac died at home at the end of a peninsula on a river in Missouri with Jill and the dog. The estate was laid out per 3-3. It may have been a heart attack after his back surgery. Both Mac and Jill donated their remains to The Science Center. Mac's remains were removed for their next journey this morning. Mac does not want a service, but I know he would be happy if you left a note here or at his creation www.sgtmacsbar.com

His contribution to CCT was his life’s work and even after retirement till his last days kept his passion, love and loyalty to his CCT brothers heart felt.

As he was inducted into the Air Commando Hall of Fame, lived a full life, cherished his family, loved his CCT brothers, adored his pets, he was to me the best father a son could ever ask for and look up too. Can’t wait to see you again one day dad. Cheers!🍻

Love you,
Your proud son Tom-Tom [IMG_Jm2dhdq.jpg]... Collapse

I had the honor of being in the same USAF BMT Flight with Tracy for the few weeks he was there. Being prior service Tracy graduated BMT early and entered CCT Training at OLH. We quickly became friends when we realized I would join him at OLH. As Doug mentioned, Tracy was extremely determined; we worked to improve swimming together. The word quit was not in his vocabulary! He epitomized what it takes to earn and wear the USAF Red Beret! We lost contact with each other after we left OLH under conditions neither of us wanted. I was thrilled... Read more

We lost contact with each other after we left OLH under conditions neither of us wanted. I was thrilled to hear he had eventually returned and became a CCT. Being from Kentucky, I was in Louisville. I was in the process of tracking him down in Louisville when we lost him. I am still deeply saddened by his loss! What an awesome person! Hooyah Tracy!... Collapse

James was my roommate at The Basic School (B Co '79), and we both went to Pensacola for aviation training in 1980. Super nice guy. Very professional and somewhat quiet. While most of us were recent college grads and new to military service, James was pretty seasoned and took the USMC harassment package with a grain of salt. He ended up in the OV-10 pipeline I think and we lost touch.
