Terry was my uncles brother. He was my biggest mentor going into the USMC. Prepared me in ways that helped me understand what to expect as an 18 year old as well as excel. I was able to enlist Uniform Zulu slated to go to Recon School right after SOI. Though I got Hypothermia really bad and was dropped. It still did not stop me from excelling. It was awesome to end up meeting a couple guys that knew Terry when I was on a MEUSOC deployment we had an operation that we supported another unit that Terry had moved on to. I knew they were Combat Controllers because of the CC Portion on their shoulders with in that unit a knowing how small the comunity is and even more so in that type of unit. I threw it out there that I knew Terry and if they knew him and they had. We were presaged for a mission at that point and on stand by that unit was staged on the other side of the ramp to the flight deck so it was awesome they shot the shit with me about Terry for a while. Being a Marine it was the only time I noticed I/we were working that Closely with Combat Controllers. Much respect. I know the loss of Terry affected many especially his family. I know I lost a great mentor and some one I looked up to. Still do. For those he served with there are many of you that meant a lot to him. So many more things I wanted to learn from him or stories and experienced to have heard about. He left us way too soon. Semper Fi... Collapse
