Team, we received more information about Ty Clark.
MSgt (Retired) Ty Duane Clark – August 29, 1967 – November 15, 2024.
Ty Duane Clark, beloved father, son, and friend, passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 57.
Born on August 29, 1967, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Carolyn and Sidney Clark, Ty lived a life filled with adventure, service, and unshakable love for his family and passions.
A 1985 graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga, Ty enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he found his calling as a Combat Controller.
After enduring the rigorous pipeline, he graduated in July 1986, embarking on a distinguished career of military service. His assignments included two at the 23d Special Tactics Squadron (STS), Hurlburt Field, Fla.; OL-C 342nd Training Squadron, Pope AFB, NC; 21st STS Pope AFB, NC; 321st STS RAF Mildenhall, UK; and the 6th Special Operations Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla.
Among his many achievements, Ty became a Freefall Jumpmaster, Combat Diver Supervisor, and a member of the USAF STARS Parachute Demonstration Team. Ty completed 4,892 free-fall jumps, 461 Tandem jumps and 283 static-line jumps.
He served in conflicts across the globe, including Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kosovo. Ty was immensely proud to serve his country, retiring in March 2011, though he continued contributing in a civilian capacity.
Ty is preceded in death by his father, Sidney Clark; his stepmother, Gaye McLaughlin.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Delaney, who was the light of his life; his mother, Carolyn Holman; stepfather, Donnie Holman; sister, Missy (Joey) Moore; nieces, Noelle (Jon Michael) Green and Kayla (Ryan) Walden; and nephew, Chandler (Kaylen) Moore. Three great nephews and one great niece.
Ty shared a unique and unbreakable bond with Delaney, coaching her through countless games of softball and soccer and spending endless hours together watching Tennessee Volunteers football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
He often expressed his deep pride in the young woman, Delaney, has become and was immensely proud to be her father.
Those who knew Ty will forever remember his infectious love for Tennessee Volunteers football and the Atlanta Braves. His passion for the Vols was legendary and served as a defining part of who he was.
Ty lived life on his own terms—a free spirit, fearless, and full of joy. He had a talent for making people laugh and embraced life with a zest that left an impression on everyone he met. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, and the world feels profoundly different without him in it. Rocky Top will always be home sweet home for Ty.
Respectfully,
